Roma had a very special birthday and her mum and dad decided to mark the occasion by booking a Smash and Splash first birthday photo shoot.  They had put a lot of effort into getting her ready for the shoot, even buying her the very pretty hot pink and orange tutu and matching party hat and they’d also had a stunning cake made.  Roma took a little while to warm up to the idea of eating cake – which isn’t at all unusual, after all most babies have never had access to cake and icing before and certainly not in any quantity.  Still, she soon got the hang of it and was tucking in like a pro.

With a cake smash session, we start with a ‘normal’ portrait session into which you can incorporate some of my first birthday props or anything else you would like to bring along (my clients have some brilliant ideas which I then shamelessly steal!).  Then we move on to the cake smash.  You don’t need to have a cake professionally made of course – you can just slather a value sponge with butter icing and sprinkles.  Then if you want to, you can finish up the session by having a splash in warm water and bubbles in my big tin bath. Roma doesn’t particularly enjoy bath time so we didn’t do that in this session but, if you do have a water baby, it is a good way of cleaning up, having fun and getting great pictures into the bargain.

Cake Smash & Tub Splash Photo Shoots

A cake smash and tub splash photo shoot is the perfect way to celebrate and commemorate that extra special first birthday.   We start with a clean shoot and mum, dad and siblings are welcome to get involved here as well for family pictures if you’d like to.  Then it’s time to get out the cake for some smashing fun!  After that, it’s time to fill your choice of tub with warm and bubbly water for more great pictures and a good old icing removal clean up.  Each session includes your three favourite digital images (chosen from your online gallery, there’s no sales session) and costs £95.

Cake smash and tub splash sessions are also included in my baby photography club – the Joey Club so if you have a little one (under four months) take a look at that to find out more about capturing your first year together.
