Baby Lucas came to visit with his family for his newborn photos and a little fox buddy which is one of his very first toys.  He also another first toy which was a rabbit but, despite the customary relationship between foxes and rabbits, the two seemed to be getting on famously so no problems there.

First toys are a great addition to your newborn photo shoot, as they always hold a special place in our hearts. In fact, I’ve quite often had mums and dads bring along their first toys to include, ready to pass on for duty to the next generation.

We also made some time to capture the first official photos of Lucas with his very excited big sister who was the perfect model while we waited for him to settle down into his snuggled up position and he was definitely very happy getting the first of what I imagine will be very many cuddles.

Sibling and family photos are no problem at all in your newborn photo shoot (although they’re certainly not obligatory if you don’t feel entirely camera ready – it’s entirely up to you).  With younger siblings who are likely to get bored having to be in the room for the newborn session, then I usually recommend that they go off to a local park with an adult for a while we capture the newborn pictures and rejoin us at the end of the session.

Newborn Photography

A newborn photo shoot is best when your baby is between 5 and 10 days old as this is when they are at their maximum sleepiness and poseability to capture those dreamy shots.  For this reason, I definitely recommend that you book when you are pregnant as this is one less thing to worry about scheduling when you’ve just got home from the hospital.   We make an appointment for your due date plus 7 days and then adjust it as needed.

My newborn shoots include your three favourite digital images which you select from your online gallery a few weeks after your photo shoot – I don’t make you attend a sales or viewing session.  Sessions take place in my warm and cosy studio in Crawley Down and cost £95.
