Newborn photos are an opportunity to capture those precious fleeting early days before your newborn becomes a baby.

They need to take place within your baby’s first two weeks with you (and ideally between 5 and 10 days) so it’s a very short window when you can achieve those sleepy, dreamy shots.  Shortly after this, your baby will ‘unfurl’ and begin to engage with the world around them so they are much harder to gently move into those tucked up poses and they are much more wakeful.  For this reason, I’d definitely recommend booking your newborn photo shoot while you’re still pregnant so you have one less thing to schedule when you get home from the hospital.

Obviously baby’s are pretty unlikely to arrive on schedule so how an advance booking works is that we schedule your session for your due date plus seven days.  We stay in touch around then and simply move your appointment where we need to but your session is guaranteed.  I limit the amount of sessions that I take on so I can move my diary about to accommodate my booked clients and also because these are quite time consuming sessions both in the studio and in the editing suite.

This little fellow came to visit at one week old, so at the perfect time, and he was an absolute sleepy superstar.  He stayed relaxed enough for his big sister to get in on the act too for those adorable sibling shots.

Newborn Photography

A newborn photo shoot is best when your baby is between 5 and 10 days old as this is when they are at their maximum sleepiness and poseability to capture those dreamy shots.  For this reason, I definitely recommend that you book when you are pregnant as this is one less thing to worry about scheduling when you’ve just got home from the hospital.   We make an appointment for your due date plus 7 days and then adjust it as needed.

My newborn shoots include your five favourite digital images which you select from your online gallery a few weeks after your photo shoot – I don’t make you attend a sales or viewing session.  You can choose to have your session in my warm and cosy studio in Crawley Down (£95) or I can come to your home (£125)
