This was my first ever ‘Aurora’ in the studio and she was just as pretty as her name! A tiny little 5lb 9oz package, she was a lovely little model, content to sleep and dream while we moved her between backgrounds and props.
Her mum and dad brought along some lovely props to include in their session, some handmade knitted blankets, her first toy (a bunny), and a trunk that someone had gifted to them with her name inside the lid. As luck would have it, as she was so tiny, she fit inside the box perfectly – just love the picture of her sleeping so peacefully underneath her name.
At the end of the session, we took some time (just a few minutes really) to capture some family portraits and I just love the resulting images – something so precious about this new family in their very first days together. I don’t honestly think you can go far wrong with plain black clothes for this type of portraiture.
A newborn photo shoot is best when your baby is between 5 and 10 days old as this is when they are at their maximum sleepiness and poseability to capture those dreamy shots. For this reason, I definitely recommend that you book when you are pregnant as this is one less thing to worry about scheduling when you’ve just got home from the hospital. We make an appointment for your due date plus 7 days and then adjust it as needed.
My newborn shoots include your three favourite digital images which you select from your online gallery a few weeks after your photo shoot – I don’t make you attend a sales or viewing session. Sessions take place in my warm and cosy studio in Crawley Down and cost £95.
