This is Lily and she is the little sister of one of my earlier newborn photo shoots. Brand new and all tucked up and sleepy in the furry little nest that I built for her in the studio.
Actually there is a story behind this shot. She wasn’t feeling very settled when she came to visit and so it was a bit tricky to get her into a nice, deep and dreamy sleep. However, I always have a raft of tricks at my disposal to try and get your little one into the right frame of mind for some photos and this little nest building approach is one that quite often works very well if your baby has a little bit of tummy ache or wind. Something about this position seems to just soothe them and it worked like a charm in this case. Lily is also sporting one of my brand new, super soft knitted rompers with the most adorable lace collar – I have a range of these little beauties now that you’re welcome to borrow for your session.
A newborn photo shoot is best when your baby is between 5 and 10 days old as this is when they are at their maximum sleepiness and poseability to capture those dreamy shots. For this reason, I definitely recommend that you book when you are pregnant as this is one less thing to worry about scheduling when you’ve just got home from the hospital. We make an appointment for your due date plus 7 days and then adjust it as needed.
My newborn shoots include your three favourite digital images which you select from your online gallery a few weeks after your photo shoot – I don’t make you attend a sales or viewing session. Sessions take place in my warm and cosy studio in Crawley Down and cost £95.
