There’s been a recent spate of reunions for me in the studio and this was the latest – a chance to catch up with a client who has grown her family by one and wanted to come back and capture those newborn early day images.
Her little boy is now a proud big brother and nearly two years old and so we arranged for the mum and her new daughter to be dropped off for an hour or so while the menfolk went off to softplay. A newborn photo shoot is quite a boring place for a two year old to be and a bored two year old can make the whole session very un-relaxing (OK, that’s not a word but you know what I mean) for you as there’s nowhere for them to go and play and obviously we try to keep things fairly calm and quiet while we capture the images. Still it’s quite normal to want to create some family images as well and so the fellas came back and joined us at the end of the session to do exactly that. They’d had fun, we had amazing pictures of the newest arrival, and everyone was fresh and ready for their family pictures – winners all round!
A newborn photo shoot is best when your baby is between 5 and 10 days old as this is when they are at their maximum sleepiness and poseability to capture those dreamy shots. For this reason, I definitely recommend that you book when you are pregnant as this is one less thing to worry about scheduling when you’ve just got home from the hospital. We make an appointment for your due date plus 7 days and then adjust it as needed.
My newborn shoots include your five favourite digital images which you select from your online gallery a few weeks after your photo shoot – I don’t make you attend a sales or viewing session. You can choose to have your session in my warm and cosy studio in Crawley Down (£95) or I can come to your home (£125)
