Caroline and Mick got married last weekend at a wonderful humanist ceremony at Gatwick Manor in a day that was full of emotion and personal touches from the bride and groom. I’ve always loved working at Gatwick Manor as it is a spacious and versatile wedding venue, especially when the sun is shining and it certainly was on Saturday. In fact, given that the few days prior had not looked all that promising, we all felt doubly blessed to be enjoying glorious sunshine on the big day!
As it was a humanist ceremony, we got to find out a little more about Caroline and Mick’s journey to ‘the altar’ than you probably would at a normal ceremony and I was very tickled to learn that they had met at work but really not liked each other one bit. In fact, instead of pet names, Mick referred to Caroline as ‘Queen Bee’ and she to him as ‘That Man’. But along the way something obviously changed as today there could be no two people closer and more sure of their love for each other and their extended families. It was quite an emotional service, particularly when the bride and groom read their handwritten vows to each other and there really weren’t many dry eyes on the house (mine weren’t dry that’s for sure – it’s at times like these that I’m glad I have a camera to hide behind).
So, like all the guests I’m sure, I had a wonderful day. Giggles with the girls getting ready in the morning, a love filled ceremony and fun with happy folk in the sunken garden for the group photos. Who could ask for more?
I offer two wedding packages so you can tailor your coverage to what suits you – one from the ceremony through to your wedding breakfast and one that also includes bridal party preparations – and both include a fully edited image gallery on memory stick.
