There’s been a lot of ‘bold’ about in the wedding market over the last couple of years – daring cuts, backless dresses, rainbow colours – and that looks set to continue in 2015 with feathers becoming a major theme to watch out for. Some of the designs on the catwalk are (as you would expect) bolder than the average bride would choose to wear but that influence has definitely filtered throughout the market with feathered trains a popular choice. In some cases, designers are using real feathers whilst in others, they are cutting fabric in the style of feathers but there is definitely a swing towards layering and movement especially in the skirt area. Of course if you don’t fancy the idea of a fully feathered train (and I think I might be a bit concerned about shedding), then there are plenty of ways to incorporate the feathered theme in more subtle ways – think shrugs, wraps, shoe details and feathered fascinators and head pieces.
Feathers can be styled in a vintage and rustic way but taking them to a pastel palette or in pure white and with lots of volume for a romantic look and feel. Twinned with diamante and rhinestone, they can fit in well with a Great Gatsby / 20s style – so they offer lots of versatility within your wedding theme.
